I’m 15, and all I think about it weight loss, weight gain, calories, how much I’ve exercised, measurements, anything like that. I’ve been like this for a long time, and I don’t want to develop an eating disorder. How can I get rid of these thoughts and focus on something else? It seems like nothing is working, and all it is doing is making me feel really down.

:( that’s so sad, your so young..
if you figure out a little exersize schedual, you should only start with that and keep eating normal meals with your family or however.
cut your meals in half maybe? that way, your going to be eating at least, but you’ll be seeing yourself eat less.
try going for a walk every night after dinner.
i’m not a doctor and i’m really not one to be sure on this, but it worked for me.

Also! you should be sure your staying healthy…so try making smoothies for lunch…but i guess your going to school..well, when you can..look up some smoothie recipies..there are lots. i used to have a book on how to make meals into drinks. like, using peanut butter and milk and yogurt and fruit. you can fill yourself up, but knowing that it’s all healthy and not full of too many calories..depending on the stuff you use.

I recently went to a dance convention and was dancing 8 hours a day for 8 days in a row. I worked out really hard while I was there and ate fewer calories (within my 1200-1500 calorie range instead of over it – that’s what I’ve been told to eat for weight loss, not weight maintenance) and ate healthier foods (more fruits and veggies). I was hoping to lose at least 2 pounds. I haven’t lost a thing. Presently, I’m at 163.2 – my heaviest (I’m 5’6″). It’s so frustrating! It seems like the harder I try to lose, the more weight I gain. And my fiancee has been working out every other day for half an hour and has lost 10 pounds in a month. I work out almost every day for half an hour in the morning and teach dance for 4 hours in the evening 4 days a week and sometimes do an hour or more of DDR in the evenings and I GAIN weight. It’s so unfair. I’m so frustrated!
Oh, and I’m a vegetarian, so I’m not eating greasy burgers, etc. I’m also not in starvation mode (I’m a former anorexic, I know).

build muscle. it’ll take your extra fat.(fat that didn’t get burn)
i don’t exactly remember how.

drink lots of water.
workout.
eat healthy.
eat slowly, because it takes awhile for food to digest, so
it takes awhile to be full after eating.

eating slowly will allow you to know when you’re full to eat less.

don’t sit in front of the tv while eating.

do aerobic exercises

do 2 30min then have a 20 min break you’ll lose more wight than not taking breaks at all

starving will get you skinnier but at the end of it when you eat normally again your body will be saving it,
like bears saving their food for the winter.

Should I do the weight watchers/la weight loss/another diet program, or just try to lose weight on my own with good diet and exercise. I am going to try and lose a total of 80lbs.

If you’re looking to lose 80 pounds, I would go for the lifestyle makeover and do it on your own. Mostly because Weight Watchers and LA Weight Loss Centers basically promote the same ideas of healthy eating and smaller portions anyway.

Here are some tips that I’ve learned throughout my healthier lifestyle change:

1. Get rid of all the snacks in your house. Replace with fruits and veggies, or healthier snacks like the 100-calorie packs. Those are awesome. If you eat the slowly, they seem like a big snack. They also have great flavors like Grasshoppers, which taste just like thin mint girl scount cookies.

2. Cut soda out of your diet. It’s a scientific fact that one soda a day will make you gain 15 pounds a year. The sugar in soda is a death sentance if you’re dieting. If you need a sweet drink, try the vitiamin water with different flavors.

3. You HAVE you excercise. Join a gym that you feel comfortable in, and take advantage of any free personal trainer sessions they offer. If you can’t afford a gym (like me), invest in home work-out DVDs. I use Janis Saffel cardio kickboxing DVDs three times a week, and Pilates two times a week. There are also a variety of 10-minute solution work-out DVDs out there on Amazon.com that contain a few different 10-minute workouts that you can customize to fit your lifestyle.

4. Drink LOTS of water. It works.

5. Green tea is a great supplement to the water because of its anti-oxidant properties.

6. Do excercise whenever you have the chance. If you’re on the escalator at the mall, walk up or down it. Take stairs, etc.

7. Smaller portions. Americans eat way too much in one meal. A salad plate is the size meal we should be eating. If you’re at a restaurant, cut the meal in half, and bring it home right away. Then you have a meal for the next day!

8. Eat smaller, more frequent meals. It’s a misconception that you should eat less throughout the day, when really, to keep your metabolism up, you should snack in between meals (fruits and veggies).

9. When you slip up, don’t beat yourself up over it. If you have a cookie or three, just start over with your next meal or snack.

10. Always feel good about yourself throughout the journey. When you lose a few pounds, go out a buy a new shirt that you love. Even though you won’t wear it for long because you’ll continue to lose weight, it’s a temporary booster that we all need to keep going.

These things really are simple lifestyle changes that make big differences. Don’t fall for any diets like low-carb or anything. They won’t KEEP the weight off. Don’t take diet pills. They don’t work.

Also, if you think it will help, go to a nutritionist. They will be able to tell you how many calories and fat grams you need to have a day to lose a steady 1-2 pounds a week. Or you can google calorie intake per day to type in your body weight, etc. for the same calculations. Keep journals to help you out.

Plus, how proud of yourself will you be when you lose the weight naturally? It’s such a great feeling!

Take it seriously, and you’ll do great.

ME!! February 7, 2012 at 9:58 am

I have been really good for today, basically the beginning of my weight loss journey. I’ve tried many times before, but I really want this to be the time I succeed. Any advice?

BQ: If you are on a weight loss goal, how long have you been going for, and how much have you lost?
10 miles. I doubt that.

I started my weighloss adventure about 4 months ago. I have done no diets. Just increased my physical activity and controlled the junk foods. I have lost 27 lbs and feel great. When I started I could barely run a mile. Now I can run 10 with not too much sweat.

Is it safe for an under 18 year old to use weight loss / weight loss accelerate pills? One’s that make you less hungry, Example Blackmores weight loss accelerate pill.

I think you need to concentrate on exercise only instead of using any pills. These pills do have side effects and that will effect you on your later age.

I have been using the Weight Watchers Points Plus Program.
I have lost nearly 50lbs.
I have the weight LOSS system down.
I need suggestions on how to maintain the weight and keep myself from gaining weight back.

I have just started going to the gym.
I will be starting up my Bikram Yoga again soon as well.

Anything further would be appreciated.

You need to go on a maintenance diet for the rest of your life.

You need to stick to your Weight Watchers points quota per day and allow yourself only a few extra points a day and keep checking your weight once or twice a day. If you start gaining weight you need to reduce your points quota and if you start losing weight you could allow yourself a few extra points.

I am a fairly active mother of two, and I am having issues losing weight. I work out every day for about an hour, and I work as a waitress, so I’m on my feet for 6-8 hours a day. I have really hit a wall on weight loss and I would like to try something to get the weight off fast. I eat healthy and in small portions, and I drink lots of water. I am healthy, except for the weight. What weight loss pill would you recommend?

Reply

DoGo667 February 7, 2012 at 9:58 am

None. Weight Loss pills are not FDA approved, and in many cases found to be ineffective.

Eat Healthy, Eat right (missing meals starts fat build up), and drink a lot of water – like you are doing.

Working out wise. Do more. If you do the same routine everyday your body will get used to it and you will not lose weight. Try doing cardio one day, aerobics another. Don’t slow down, do meaningful physical training.

@Emily. That’s a daily muti-vitamin, not a weight loss pill. I take a multi-vitamin everyday, there’s no harm to it.
